"Too Old" →
parislemon: Google isn’t upgrading their flagship Nexus One to the new Ice Cream Sandwich flavor of Android. Why? It’s “too old”. The Nexus One was released on January 5, 2010 — not even two years ago.  Apple often gets dinged for cutting support to older hardware, forcing users to upgrade if they want the latest and greatest software. So I feel it’s necessary to point out that the iPhone 3GS...

Nest's Learning Thermostat →
parislemon: Holy crap this thing is beautiful. It makes me want to buy a home just so I use it. I really hope this takes off to continue the trend of beautiful, thoughtful design winning over cheap shit. Imagine if every piece of technology in your home was designed like this? Right now, of course, basically just Apple products are. Tony Fadell learned well.  I want this!

clientsfromhell: Client: “Can you draft me up a banner for our downtown location?” Me: “Sure. What did you have in mind?” Client: “It’s very simple. The Banner will read ‘#Occupy Pizza!’” Me: “Uh, do you really want to use that as a marketing ploy? I think it has different connotations than you might think—” Client: “And a picture of a pizza with a tiny slice shaded that says ‘We’re the 99%, so...

Awesome post from Sam Spratt about "beauty"
“People often divide physical attraction into two categories: 1) People who say that you have to look a certain way and 2) People who say that it doesn’t matter what you look like and that it’s only what’s “on the inside that counts”. Much like being purely liberal or purely conservative, this is a narrow-minded approach that manifests as either incredibly blunt, stubborn, and harsh or...

Now Serving: Netflix Waffles →
parislemon: I’m really starting to worry about Netflix. Yes, Qwikster was an awful name, but the idea that streaming is the future, DVDs are the past is the exact right one. Spinning that business off makes sense as it’s a sinking ship. Sure, many current customers will bitch and moan at first. But that too will die over time. The customer is always right, except when they’re wrong. But the...
